Dr Shirley Paul attended a four-day Summer School in Corpus Approaches to Social Science held during 14th – 17th July 2015 at Lancaster University. The summer school is supported by the Centre for Corpus Approaches to Social Science CASS which is itself sponsored by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC). This year’s Summer School included a session on ‘Corpus-based approaches to analysing metaphor in discourse’, delivered by Professor Elena Semino.
The Summer School culminated with a meeting of the CASS Challenge Panel. The Challenge Panel comprises a group of academics, including Professor Alice Deignan, who have specialist knowledge and expertise in corpus methods. The meeting gives junior researchers the opportunity to ask questions relating to their own corpus-based research.
